Root the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) - Groovy Tutorial

Droidever - If tomorrow or in the next few days you are planning to buy a Samsung Galaxy S5, sure that you will like to know that the developer Chainfire already published the file CF-Auto - Root, through which we will be able to root this device without any problems. In fact, droidever we have already done the root to the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) and in the next tutorial we explain how to do it.

THIS PROCESS IS NOT VALID FOR LOLLIPOP.

IMPORTANT: This process increases the timer flashes and affect KNOX, so the warranty is lost.

To make root can have risks. If the steps are followed there should be no problem. If any, neither I nor droidever are responsible for. This tutorial only applies to the Samsung Galaxy S5 version SM-G900F. You do the process at your own risk.

This type of root methods not normally affect user data or applications, but if you're not sure, it is highly recommended to make a backup of your files.

Note: Please read well the process and warning. As always, try to help with everything that is in my knowledge, but I will not answer those comments that ask something that is already explained in the article or in other comments.

What do we need to root to the S5?
  • A computer with Windows starting from XP.
  • A USB cable.
  • A Samsung Galaxy S5 in its international version (SM-G900F) the battery is charged at least 51%.
  • File CF-Root, which you will find in this XDA Developers thread for download. Within that file zip is included the Odin program.

Step 1 - prepare the files

The CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.zip file has to extract a program type WinRAR. I recommend creating a folder with the name SGS5 on your desktop and extract them there. The SGS5 folder should look like this:

Step 2 - prepare ODIN

Once we have prepared files, you should make sure that your computer detects the Samsung Galaxy S5. So we connect it and hope for it to recognize it. If it does not, make sure that the USB cable you are using is the original. If still not recognizes it, test the program Samsung KIES. That Yes, before that start the process to make sure that this program is closed.

Open Odin by double clicking on the .exe file and once opened click "Reset". In the PDA box will add the first file CF-Auto - Root, which ends with the format. tar.md5.

Step 3 - turn on the S5 in mode download

To turn on the device download need to simultaneously press the volume down button + Home + On/Off. You will get a screen like in the image above, to para aceptar OK we must press volume up. Once done, we only have to connect the Samsung Galaxy S5 to your computer via USB. Odin program will recognize it. Odin screen has to do so:

If everything is as seen in the picture, has the time to press the "Start" button. Once you have finished the process, Samsung Galaxy S5 will restart and will be shown to root with a pirate Fund Android.
