Marshmallow 6.0, The New Android

Droidever - We are thrilled with the recent announcement of Google on the next version of Android: specifically, the numbering will have and its trade name. 6.0 Android is Marshmallow (ALTHEA), and along with this announcement, the company has published software for developers of applications (SDK 6.0 final) and factory images to install the last "prior" this version of Android (Android M Preview 3) Nexus devices.

The hand of Google is not yet known the specifications and features that will have Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but chances are that everything seen in the three versions of this operating system test (Previews), released under the temporary name Android M during the last few months, are also seen in Marshmallow.

Some features of Android M that almost surely will remain in Android 6 are:

• Block permissions of applications.
• Support applications in Google Drive, provided that their data does not exceed the 25MB.
• Sleep mode that allows you to save battery power, disabling background applications activity.
• Support for fingerprint reader, which possibly programmers can take advantage to enhance the beginning of session and authorization in their applications.
• Now on Tap, allowing the user to relevant and structured information of any screen where it will be.

It should not expect developments in aesthetics or appearance: the upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow is more technical than visual. There are no major changes in design, with respect to Android 5 Lollipop.

Who have a Nexus 5/6/9/Player device only can download and install the latest version of Android M Preview 3 testing right now, and probably will be the first to receive update OTA final operating system Android Marshmallow 6.0 between September and November of this 2015. Other users with other brands of Android devices will have to wait for the decisions of their manufacturer and operator of this update.
